Take the spa with you wherever you go. All you need is a thirst-quenching infusion of summer’s juiciest natural goodies.

“Drinking water helps with the production of collagen and elastin and helps skin glow — and it’s always good to add natural vitamins into your water,” says Julia Sell, esthetician and massage therapist at Metamorphosis Spa in Lawrenceville. (Her go-to infusion is a mix of raspberries, blueberries, and lemon.)

There are a few simple rules of thumb for making your hydration creation. First, thoroughly clean all produce, in particular citrus, to remove any wax, advises Georgina Davis, author of Infused Waters: 50 Simple Drinks to Restore, Revive & Relax.

Next, put the ingredients into the large glass vessel of your choice, then add filtered water. Fruits and veggies such as watermelon, cucumber, cantaloupe, honeydew, and strawberries work wonderfully.

A little pre-planning is necessary to bring out the best flavor. Davis recommends refrigerating your mixture for at least two hours. Even better, prepare your water before bedtime and let the infusion do its thing in the refrigerator overnight, says Sell. The next morning, you’ll have “a very nice, vitamin-rich water to drink throughout the day.”

Here, we’ve made Davis’ hydrating Lemon, Mint & Cucumber Water with a bit of sweet strawberry to garnish. Follow the recipe below, but feel free to let your creative juices flow and try your own fresh fruit combinations.
