Rooted in Pittsburgh, American Gas Lamp Works has been hand crafting gas and electric lighting for homes and businesses since 1963. The bold designs and robust materials ensure their attention to detail does not go unnoticed. “They just said 'Come on in!' to us,” explains Carmella Salem of Carmella's Plates and Pints on the south side. “We wanted an old-time rustic feel,” says Salem. Once she witnessed the look and feel of the gas lamps from American Gas Lamp Works, she knew it was a perfect fit for the front of her restaurant.

What started as a small line of gas lamps has evolved into an entire suite of handcrafted customizable products. Adaptable for large or small spaces, all American Gas Lamp Works lamps can be built with either gas or electric illumination. One showstopper: the proprietary GasGlow LED lamps, which mimic the look and feel of traditional gas mantle lamps.

When John Henne of Henne Jewelers started shopping around for outdoor home lighting, his dream of authentic gas lamps became a reality.  “Seeing that gas flame is something very special,” says Henne. He worked with local craftsmen at American Gas Lamp Works to customize a design that was right for his home, and that he would enjoy for years to come.

Five years later, Henne's lamps are still shining as bright as the day they were installed. This outcome is what AGLW strives for with every customer: an outdoor space that is more than a yard, but a natural extension of the homeowners vision. Creating a sanctuary that is love at first light.
