"Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice" Nut Mix from The Speckled Egg

Jacqueline & Nate Schoedel of  The Speckled Egg share a Chef-Mas recipe that works at every gathering.

INGREDIENTS

•  3/4 C Maple sugar*** (granulated sugar can be substituted) 

•  1 T Kosher Salt

•  1 t Chile Powder                                                                                 

•  2 t Cinnamon

•  2 t Ginger Powder 

•  1 large Egg White

•  2 C raw Pecans (9 oz)

•  2 C raw Almonds (9 oz) 

DIRECTIONS

1.  Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. 

2.  Coat a sheet pan with parchment paper and nonstick cooking spray. 

3.  In a small bowl, whisk the sugar with the salt, chile powder, cinnamon and ginger. 

4.  In a large bowl, beat the egg white until frothy. Add pecans, almonds and spiced sugar and toss. 

5.  Spread out the nuts on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 45 minutes, stirring once, until browned. 

6.  Let the nuts cool on the baking sheet, stirring occasionally.
