Pumpkin Picking Time
Can you even say it’s fall if you don’t purchase at least one pumpkin or one something-with-pumpkin-in-it? This year, skip the artificial flavorings and chain-store-bought pumpkins by going all natural with these local farms.

Open every weekend in October, this McDonald farm and garden center can fulfill all your pumpkin needs. Bedner’s offers pumpkins for sale in both their shop and farmstand, a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, and pie pumpkins for the bakers. The autumn fun can also continue with Bedner’s fall festival and hay rides.

Forty miles north of the city lies Cheeseman Farm, open every weekend from the end of September until early November. Daylight brings hay mazes, jumps, and rides, as well as a pick-your-own pumpkin patch and petting zoo. When nighttime falls, we hope you’re not afraid of things that go bump in the night; evenings bring the Cheeseman Fright Farm for spooky good times.

Travel to Grove City Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in September and October looking for fall, family-friendly activities, and you’ll most likely come across Fair Haven Farms. The purchase of a ticket to their fall festival grants access to a hay ride to their pick-your-own pumpkin patch, a corn maze, a food shack, and other farm activities.

Looking to pick apples along with your pumpkins? At this family-owned and operated farm and retail market, you can pick your own apples or grab a pre-made grab bag before or after checking out their selections of pumpkins for sale in their shop, farmstand, or gathered pumpkin patch.
Howling Hills Corn Maze Adventures

Come for the eight-acre corn maze and fall attractions; stay for the pumpkin patch, pumpkin painting, and pumpkin launch. (You can eat them, why not try throwing them?)
488 Anderson Hozak Rd, Clinton, PA 15026
Best known for its Christmas trees, this farm west of Pittsburgh offers free hay rides from 2 pm to 6 pm on weekdays in October to its pick-your-own pumpkin patch. Expect the same thing from 10 am to 6 pm during the weekends and don’t forget to check out Hozak Farms’ gift barn, featuring fall and Halloween decor, plus a Christmas shop if you’re already in a festive winter mood.

Open through the beginning of November, a ticket to this New Wilmington farm offers wagon rides to their pumpkin patch, fresh cider, straw mountains, a corn maze, and many more fun activities for kids.

The name says it all, find pumpkins galore at Janoski’s Pumpkinland, but only on Saturdays and Sundays throughout October. Beyond pumpkins, a corn maze, haunted barn, petting zoo, mums, and more is available at this farm and greenhouse.

Warmer weather makes for mini golf and ice cream fun at Kerber’s Dairy, while autumn in October brings their annual Pumpkin Festival. Enjoy a leisurely 30-minute ride on their canopied hay wagons or participate in fall activities like the slide tunnel. Well, maybe leave that one for the kids, but you can still purchase their sweet, cold treats!

A fixture in the Pittsburgh community since 1864, the fall festival at Schramm’s Farms and Orchards offers both pumpkin and apple picking as well as a corn maze and hay rides. You can even sip on their apple cider, made with the apples from the farm, or purchase produce from their large variety of fresh fruits and veggies.

This is a pumpkin patch list, so you can bet you’ll find the orange vegetable at this Wexford farm, along with hayrides and a corn maze. But you’ll also find over 50 homemade fudge flavors and a diverse selection of apples. Make sure to bing your appetite!

Expect to be immersed in all things fall at Soergel Orchards. Pick your own pumpkins and apples or simply browse their large selection of produce and baked goods, including Amish-made donuts, locally made cider and wine, and of course, pumpkins and gourds galore. Bonus: there’s an entire store dedicated to natural and allergen-free products.

If your schedule can’t accommodate weekend pumpkin patch trips, Trax Farms is open daily for pumpkin picking. Until the end of October, a weekend trip to the South Hills farm brings their fall fest, which includes a three-acre corn maze and more.

While you can pick your own pumpkins, apples, and flowers, most days at Triple B Farms, October is packed with tons of fall fun. The weekends, aptly named their Fall Fun series, offer a corn maze, hay rides, animal barn tours, and more.
170 Simmons Road, McMurray, PA, 15317
This McMurray farm is open daily and boasts a five-acre pick-your-own pumpkin patch. While here, don’t forget to check out their other fall activities, including hayrides, pick your own fresh produce, pumpkin corn hole, and a corn maze, among others.

Located south of the city, the family-owned The SpringHouse has an allure for its scratch family recipes served for lunch and dinner. After chowing down, take part in their Great Pumpkin Weekend Festivities, featuring hay rides, corn mazes, and of course, a pumpkin patch.

Slides, corn mazes, pedal karts, oh my! Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from September through Halloween, this Girard farm hopes you’ll start a new family tradition with them.
