Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

 Friends,

2020 has been a very challenging year for our community and our neighbors. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a 42 percent increase in food insecurity rates in southwestern Pennsylvania. As an organization, with the incredible support of the community and people like you, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank has stood up to the challenge to make sure all our neighbors have enough food to eat.

During the holiday season, especially during this pandemic, we become more mindful of those who do not have the opportunity to enjoy a

special meal with their friends and family. With your help, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank is committed to feeding our neighbors in need. Together, our community always rallies to ensure that everyone has consistent access to healthy food throughout the year.

Since the onset of the pandemic in March, the Food Bank has distributed nearly 30 million pounds of groceries to the community. We’ve done this though our network of more than 500 partners and pantries, our drive-up food distributions, summer feeding sites for children, a new home delivery service and assisting people in signing up for SNAP applications.

We rely on the generosity of people like you to ensure that those who struggle financially don’t have to go without healthy meals in order to celebrate the season. In fact, between Thanksgiving and the end of the year, we expect to distribute enough food for 10 million meals to neighbors who just can’t make ends meet. You can help by giving today at pittsburghfoodbank.org.

As we enter into this season of giving thanks, we are especially grateful for your support that enables us to provide the most nutritious food possible to the families we serve. I can’t tell you how meaningful it is to see our community take on the responsibility of eliminating hunger. That’s truly the best gift of the season, especially this year.

With Gratitude,

Lisa A. Scales
President & CEO
