Public parks are vital to Pittsburgh’s urban ecosystem and the quality of life its residents. That’s why it’s the mission of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to restore the park system to excellence in partnership with government and the community, and continue to develop projects and programs that promote respect for the environment, historic design, and the needs of our diverse region. Park use has even increased 42% monthly on average since March due to the COVID-19 lockdown, which only emphasizes the essential role they play within our communities.

We all have a stake in keeping our parks healthy: they help keep us healthy! Let’s get outside and support the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy with a special outdoor dining experience: .PNC Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy Hat Luncheon: Picnic in Your Park, on September 26, 2020.

Guests are encouraged to celebrate their passion for Pittsburgh’s beautiful parks by picking up a one-of-a-kind, gourmet picnic basket filled with scrumptious picnic fare and enjoying it in their favorite park. Baskets will be prepared by the Common Plea catering and guests will have the opportunity to purchase a two-person or four-person basket with the choice between a seaside-inspired spread, a traditional fried chicken feast, and a French countryside vegetarian delight.

For those wanting to partake in the reimagined celebration, a pick-up location will be set up in Frick Park on September 26. Participants also have the option of having their basket delivered right to their doorstep. It’s all up to you! Every picnic basket purchased will not only support the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy mission but will also provide a meal to the City of Pittsburgh’s ‘Grab and Go’meal distribution program for children experiencing food insecurity.

To date, the Parks Conservancy has raised nearly $130 million for parks, completed 22 major improvement projects, and is active in 22 of the city's 165 parks.
