It's Five O'Clock: The Aviation

The Aviation, known for its beautiful purple hue has enjoyed a recent renaissance on cocktail menus around the world. Its refined, lightly floral bouquet and tart finish makes for a fascinating flavor profile.

This simple cocktail, made with only 4 ingredients, was shelved for many years, because creme de violette was tough to find. Production of this liquor, however, has resumed and is now available at any premium wine and spirits locations. It is said that you can skip the creme de violette, but we advise against it. The color and perfume are really what makes it. Cheers!

4 parts gin

1 part Luxardo maraschino liqueur

1/2 part creme de violette

1 1/2 part fresh lemon juice

Combine all ingredients. Stir in a shaker with ice until chilled. Serve in a coupe or martini glass with a twist, or a fresh violet flower in warmer seasons.
